Our curriculum

The Junior School

The Junior School uses British text books in all classes, for all subjects. By the time a student has left Playgroup, he / she will be expected to know their alphabet, count to fifteen, acknowledge sequences and identify objects from the world they live in.

The Senior School

Forms 1-3
By the time they make their Cambridge choices at the end of Form 3, students will be well-prepared to make their selections based on the interests they have acquired in the first three years at the Senior School.
In addition to English, Mathematics, Science and ICT, students also choose French or Sinhala as their language option. Students from Form 1 – Form 3 also attend PT, Swimming and Art classes as part of their curriculum.

Form 4 – Form 5
Students follow the Cambridge course in all subjects. In Form 4, students begin the Cambridge course set by the Cambridge University, the examining body that includes the former London Examinations. Cambridge is recognised by universities and employers around the world and students’ results in this examination are the first step to university admission. The course lasts two years with students taking the examinations in Form 5.
English Language and Mathematics are compulsory for all students. Students must choose at least six more subjects from the following list: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Human Biology, ICT, French, Sinhala and Art.

AS – AL
AS and AL students study the GCE Advanced (A Level) course set by Edexcel International. These qualifications are recognised by universities in Britain, the USA, Australia, Singapore, India, Canada, and elsewhere.
The A Level course is divided into two sections. The first two or three units form the GCE Advanced Subsidiary (AS) section, for which students gain a separate grade; the other units form the A2 section. A student’s final A Level grade is a combination of their results of both AS and A2 sections.
Students must select a minimum of 3 A Levels from: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics and ICT.

Please contact the school if you would like further information regarding the Cambridge and Edexcel courses.
